German hunting dagger/boot knife

German hunting dagger with stag horn handle and maker mark L. Jost. Sadly the decorative piece on the butt of the knife is missing.

These hunting daggers were often carried as boot knife by soldiers during ww1. They could be used as all purpose knife or if needed in close quarters combat. There were many manufacturers and the knives were often privatly purchased either by the soldiers themselves of by their family to send to their loved one at the front.
